A Level
MV 2GO Masinag originally began its journey in Japan, where it was built by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries at the Shimonoseki Shipyard and delivered in October 2002. For two decades, it operated as the Ferry Fukuoka II under Meimon Taiyō Ferry, serving as a reliable overnight coastal liner connecting Osaka and Kitakyushu. In 2022, the vessel was retired from Japanese service and sold to South Korea’s SeaWorld Express Ferry Co., where it was renamed the Queen Mary 2 and underwent extensive interior upgrades. Finally, in early 2024, the ship was acquired by the Philippines’ 2GO Group (under SM Investments Corporation), brought to local shipyards for port-compatibility adjustments, and officially christened the MV 2GO Masinag alongside its sister ship, the MV 2GO Masikap. Today, it operates as a premium domestic Ropax liner connecting Manila to major inter-island hubs like Cebu, Iloilo, and Cagayan de Oro.
