The creation of this model, which is listed in the cultural register of maritime museums, deserves recognition. The steamship was reproduced with noticeable effort. It is sentimental, attractive, and sleek, emphasizing the role of wood throughout the structure. The sound elements are unique, conveying the atmosphere of steam propulsion. It sails with majesty considering its long (!) service. However, the grandeur of the effect is marred by the interior, which is difficult to perceive class in. It is dark, reminiscent of a low-quality highway bar. These could have been replaced with paintings imitating the interior, instead showing the outline of the steam engine in the engine room. Locating the lower engine telegraph from A. Robinson & Co., Liverpool, there and integrating it with the bridge would have added a maritime atmosphere. Regardless of the water, time of day, or weather, the Rocky Mountains and the American prairie are visible in every window, so the animation of the flag lowering seems deliberate. The price undoubtedly reflects the creator’s effort, but not the effect.
